All hope is not lost … IF you make that your choice.

I have mixed emotions about the future but I am fairly sure it will be VERY different than our current reality. VERY different than maybe what we anticipated. VERY different than what we may have wanted.

I have a 30 year old son. He has a skill set that should serve him fairly well in the future but it may be hard. Although he is married he and his wife have decided to not have any children.

Being resourceful is the key. Humans will survive but life will be different.

If you want some hints on where things might be going you should read “21 Lessons for the 21st Century” by Yuval Noah Harari. If you read it with a closed mind expecting simple answers you will be disappointed. If you use it to help better understand how the future could unfold and to build your own strategy to navigate the new world and one for your son it should be a success.

Yuval seems to be pretty gifted in assembling a broad plausible picture of the future. Maybe it can be part of a toolkit for your family as you navigate the future.

You can also find Yuval on some TED Talks but, in my opinion, the book is pretty remarkable.

I will leave you with this. I try to live by it every day …

“And I found that I can do it if I choose to — I can stay awake and let the sorrows of the world tear me apart and then allow the joys to put me back together different from before but whole once again.”
