Happiness and joy are decisions. Feeling happy does not mean you are ignoring the problems of the world but certainly feeling some positive emotions can help motivate you to take some sort of positive action.

If you make a decision for sadness then maybe you will be motivated to curl up in a fetal position and just eat chocolate. That certainly won’t help anything that needs fixing.

Work on living in the Now.

Living in the past can create thoughts of regret. You can’t change the past but only learn from it and use those lessons in the Now.

Living in the future can create thoughts of anxiety of things yet to happen. You can only change the future by doing some planning in the Now.

Never say “If I had only …” or “When I …”. That is about living someplace other than Now.

Living in the Now you have a chance to actually do something since there is only Now.
