I am a huge fan of Randall Monroe, former NASA Physicist and roboticist now turned cartoonist and author.

He writes the strip https://xkcd.com and he wrote the book “What If”. One of the chapters talks about loading up all the people on Earth in a rocket to leave the planet. It becomes clearly a ridiculous idea as you read that chapter. If you are really curious you can read about what would happen if you could throw a baseball at 90% the speed of light. Be sure to not be anywhere close to the stadium where a pitcher might accomplish this super human feat.

So my comment as not all a 100% original idea.
