I am a technology guy (long time software developer) but I totally believe in taking notes by hand. In general my notes are minimal of just important specific details. Typing notes just does not work as well for me. As one other responder here said taking hand written notes embedded the information in his brain and he rarely had a need to refer to the notes. I have found being fully immersed in the process is more important than concentrating typing or even handwriting too many notes.

But I fully appreciate that some circumstances based on your own personal brain wiring maybe writing is not the best solution.
