I live in a county in Kentucky that had a 57% turnout and of that county 61% voted for the Democratic governor candidate Andy Beshear. Much of the state is pretty red but the major metro areas including the county where the state capital is located voted heavily for Beshear. But the state wide the margin of victory was just over 5,000 votes for the Democratic governor.

Many of the other offices, including the Attorney General went Republican. The Republican AG was the first African American elected to the AG office and won statewide by a large margin.

And of course the Republicans are now having a sour grapes moment about the governor’s election. The president of the Kentucky State Senate (Stivers) thinks the election should be contested and the Republican state legislature should decide the outcome because it was close. Somehow he thinks that little “trick” is already in state law.

Can anybody help me scream … FASCISM?
