I think you are correct that many people do keep their dark side in check and yes they are among us every day. Some do spew hatred privately and others live in their own personal private hells. We all have our shadow lurking within but in some the shadow is strong and dark external forces can cause the shadow to emerge or good external forces can help keep it in check.

POTUS did not create the El Paso shooter but certainly he does not do anything to help suppress the dark side in those where it is strong and encourage their light side. I also believe those that act to implicitly or explicitly endorse and encourage such behavior do it with a purpose of fear and division as a means to their end.
