Some days I think there is no hope.

No hope because 4–5 does an even more insane narcissistic stunt. One that tops the insane stunt from the day before … and the day before that one.

Then I see, almost on the same day, the events unfold in a Dallas court room where Amber Guyger, who killed the unarmed Botham Jean in his own apartment, get a hug and forgiveness from his brother Brandt Jean. Then Amber gets a hug from the judge, Tammy Kemp.

You can argue that the punishment was too lenient. But the human emotion of empathy was extraordinary. A display of an emotion that 4–5 is incapable of understanding and feeling.

Hope.

Maybe more bad stuff will happen. But maybe there are enough good people, even after climate change, and mass shootings, and other human created atrocities, we can carry on and re-invent planet Earth in a totally new way. One without the emotional void and human emptiness on display at The White House. One with the same degree of empathy on display in Dallas in a court room that could have been filled will outrage.

Umair — Strange as it may seem, thank you very much for your perspective on the world. Sometimes we need to observe the darkness to see how bright the light can be.
