Thank you all “Real” teachers.

Here is a link to something I wrote that my son related to me about one of his best university classes.

I recently retired as a software developer in a medical school. The department supported the professors and their audio visual needs and did laptop support for students. My job was to build special software applications to augment learning or track data. My boss loved technology and was convinced all university learning, including medical schools, would be online in a decade or two. I always pushed back some when he brought up the topic but his response was “well it has to go that way so we can teach more students”.

Whaaaaaat?

Personally I KNOW face to face learning is the best way for almost every topic and almost every student. Online can help and even be used for some limited topics but it will never be a BETTER replacement for a face to face “real” teacher.

Sadly we are not doing a very good job teaching critical thinking and Google probably should be credited with that trap.

Thank you “Real” teachers.
