The Earth — Is it an Experiment?

Do you suppose that the Earth is one of many planets that are experiments in understanding human behavior?

I digress from the title but I wanted to provide some context of how my thinking has changed and how I arrived at the idea of an “Experiment” conducted by a higher power.

As a child (6 decades ago) I was a Methodist and simply went to church with my parents. It was not exactly a choice as a child but it seemed normal enough. I remember images from Sunday School of God being a Caucasian bearded man in some sort of flowing clothes. I know memories can be imperfect but this apparently created my first impressions of God and heaven. I also remember images of Jesus ascending to heaven after his crucifixion floating up into the sky and through the clouds in full human form. These images formed my ideas of how Christianity should look to my immature brain.

Things in my family changed and we drifted away from going to formal church services but as a young child my impressions and thoughts about my personal religious perspective…
