This is from Oriah Mountain Dreamer in the poem “The Invitation”. I found it earlier this year. It talks to me about the loss of many things, including my mom quite some time ago. Every time I read it I smile.

“And I found that I can do it if I choose to — I can stay awake and let the sorrows of the world tear me apart and then allow the joys to put me back together different from before but whole once again.”

It sounds like you have already figured this out.

My mom left me with knowing how to live in the now. It took me a few decades to fully understand what she had given me, but I now use it every day.

I am glad you are okay … because you understand … That’s where her light shines in.
