Yep, Randall is pretty cool, in a very nerdy kind of way.
His 90% speed of light baseball analysis includes this from his book “what if?”:
“The gamma rays and debris would expand outward in a bubble centered on the pitchers mound … turning the air in the stadium into an incandescent bubble of plasma … After about 70 nano seconds the ball would arrive at the plate … the shell of x-rays would hit the batter first and a handful of nano seconds later the debris cloud would hit … everything within roughly a mile of the park would be leveled”.
There are lots more details in the “…” missing parts above but you get the picture. Very much like your “How Many Plants” analysis but his had more fire and explosions. You should read it because it might give you some inspration.
I am pretty techie but his explanation from a physicist was totally unexpected.
Randall even gives his opinion of the MLB rule 6.08(b) and how it might apply in this situation.
